Kuahiwi Moniz is the Hawaiian Culture Resources Manager at Kualoa Ranch.
Kuahiwi was kind enough to spend a few minutes with us last week so that we could put a short introductory piece together. We will be posting several blogs in the near future to help people learn about Hawaiian culture and vocabulary through Kuahiwi’s expertise.
Kuahiwi has been working with Kualoa Ranch for the past year, and was previously an educator with the state of Hawaii, the university system, and for Kamehameha Schools.
He enjoys playing traditional Hawaiian music and also feather making. He is skilled at making feather leis and feather kahili (poles for royalty). He is also a second generation wedding officiant. He will be regularly sharing his vast knowledge on Hawaiian history and stories through his blogs, which will be posted to the site. Kualoa and Kuahiwi have a lot of Hawaiian history to share.
Stay tuned for Kuahiwi’s cultural blogs and stories!
