Before driving home yesterday I stopped by Windward Mall to visit my hardworking coworkers, who sell our grass-fed beef and other produce at the Farmer’s Market every Wednesday from 3-8pm. The farmers’ market at Windward Mall, organized by Nalo Farms, offers a diverse abundance of local produce ranging from assorted fruits and vegetables to lumpia and yummy crepes. The market takes up the entire two floors of the Macy’s wing, about a third of the mall’s total square footage. As I turned the corner and saw our booth, I was pleasantly surprised to find a plethora of information along with our produce spread across the table. It was not only a sea of food but of different fun facts and tips about our grass-fed beef and assorted heirloom vegetables grown right here at the Ranch! Some of the produce that we were selling that night was lettuce, eggplant, okra, shishito (stuffing pepper), black sapote, and dwarf apple bananas. We also had our freshly harvested saltwater shrimp and our very own grass-fed ground beef.
The best part about hanging out with Pat and Kili last night was watching them interact with each guest that stopped by. They eagerly answered every question and gave a wealth of knowledge above and beyond what each person asked. Their excitement and passion got me enthusiastic about things that I normally would glaze over. Now that is what I call good sales!
