It’s Aloha Aina Wednesday here in Hakipu’u. A group of staff members from the Kamehameha Schools Literacy Support & Instruction division came ready to work! This particular group primarily works out of schools between Hau’ula and Waimanalo to provide support in literacy enhancement and teacher development. Out of the classrooms and away from the computers, this energetic group filled our valley with aloha as they prefaced the work day with an oli preparing their heart, bodies, and minds. After a nice stroll to the Mauka Lo’i, no hand was idle. Invasive plants were pulled, ‘auwai (irrigation ditches) were cleared, and the lepo (mud) was mixed well. The group exerted such great effort and energy, the lo’i beamed with beauty.
He leo mahalo keia ia ‘oukou e ko KS LIS! Aloha aina!
Let’s ho’omau (continue) our aloha aina (love the land) beyond the lo’i.
