Our Stewardship mission is the guiding value of not only the Ranch as a whole, but especially for our dedicated Stewardship team. Our Stewardship team is comprised of conservation professionals solely dedicated to the Stewardship Objectives.
OBJECTIVES
Stewardship Objectives
One of Kualoa Ranch’s guiding values is “mālama ʻāina” or “to care for the land”. With around 4,000 acres, there are plenty of opportunities for us to care for our land through our agricultural, ranching, and agritourism operations.
NATIVE PLANT PROPAGATION
WETLAND PROTECTION/ MANAGEMENT

INVASIVE SPECIES REMOVAL
Native Plant Propagation
Propagation of native plants is cornerstone to restoration projects conducted across the Ranch. Learn more about our native greenhouse.
Hawaiʻi’s forested watersheds help collect rainwater/recharge our aquifers, provide a habitat for Hawaiʻi’s native flora and fauna, and help mitigate the effects of climate change.
Our dedicated staff document native plants, geography, and hydrology in distinct geographic management units (MUs) in which they are found. When our team delineated the MUs in 2022, we outlined cursory priorities for each Unit. With the recent expansion and division of our two field teams, our collective knowledge of each MU's resources and invasive species grew significantly. Therefore, each team continues to adjust MU priorities over time.
